Dr. Utpal Patel, MD, PhD, is an American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) fellowship-trained skin cancer and reconstructive surgeon. He is a double board-certified dermatologist at Lotus Dermatology and serves patients in the communities of Spring Hill, Brooksville, and Homosassa, Florida. He specializes in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Patel has practiced in the Tampa Bay area since 2013 and earned his medical degree at Temple University in Philadelphia. He completed his internship at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania, and his dermatology residency at New York University in New York — the latter of which was ranked the number one dermatology residency program in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

As a trained Mohs surgeon, Dr. Patel holds the distinguished honor of practicing the Mohs method, which is a specialized form of skin cancer removal that has the highest success rate of all current methods.

He is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and has been an avid presenter and committee member on behalf of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Dr. Patel has published in leading peer-reviewed medical journals and presented at national meetings. He has also received grants, scholarships, and awards, including the Benjamin & Mary Siddons Measey Foundation M.D. Ph.D. Fellowship, Health Research Formula Grant Fellowship from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and Freshman Chemistry Student of the Year.
